About me
KATY DAWSON is a 3rd year student pursuing a BFA degree in Theatre Performance: Directing with a minor in Performing Arts Management and Entrepreneurship. Originally from San Diego, CA, Katy has worked and trained with theaters all across the country including The MUNY, The La Jolla Playhouse, and the Old Globe. In addition to directing, Katy is a Costume Designer and Producer, and serves as the Associate Artistic Director of the student theatre organization, Basement Arts, with the collaboration of Artistic Director, Reese Leif. Past theatrical credits include: I and You (Director, Basement Arts), Hookman (Director for Wall to Wall Festival), Tick... Tick... Boom! (Costume Designer, Basement Arts), Plano (Costume Designer, Directing Senior Thesis), Jesus Christ Superstar (Costume Designer, MUSKET). Katy has a passion for telling stories of intersectionality, feminism, queer identities, and bringing diverse points of view into the theatrical arts scene, onstage and backstage.
